Programs at the Medfield Public Library

All programs are FREE thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Medfield Library. Please respect the age limits and arrive on time. For programs that require advance sign-up, you may do so online (below), in person, or by phone. Feel free to contact us for more information.

Fall Storytimes

Join us for Fall Storytimes starting September 11, 2019.  Storytimes take place every Wednesday and Thursday, except for the dates listed below.  Please choose one that fits your schedule best, so there is room for everyone in the Program Room.  No registration required.

No Storytimes Aug. 28 & 29, Sept. 4 & 5, and Nov. 27 & 28.

 

Pattycake Place:  10:15 am – Recommended for ages 0-24 months

Toddler Time:  10:45 am – Recommended for ages 18-36 months

All Together Now:  11:15 am – Recommended for for ages 0-36 months

These programs are music-based and full of songs, rhymes and movement activities. They’re designed especially for babies & toddlers to enjoy with their caregivers.

 

Preschool Pageturners:  11:45 am – Recommended for Ages 3-5 

This program for preschoolers is designed to encourage a love of books that help develop important early literacy skills.  Participants are encouraged to separate from their caregivers for the first part of the program but we ask for help with our craft at the end.

Music Makers

Enhance your little one’s love of music during this 30-minute bonding time, with songs, dance, and movement activities to excite your budding musician! 

On Sept. 23 & Nov. 25, we’ll be joined by Jen Tower, director of Neponset Valley Music Together and on Sept. 30 & Oct. 21 we’ll be joined by Carrie Rowan, award winning singer and songwriter. 

Ages 0-5 with an adult.

Parachute Play

Ring around the parachute with music, games and a craft!  Toddlers are invited to come play with their caregivers. 

Ages 2.5 – 5 with an adult.

Big Ryan's Tall Tales & 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Party

Big Ryan is sure to entertain with original stories, puppet play, music & movement plus a whole lot of fun.  Afterwards, we’ll have some activities & we’ll celebrate kids who are working on or have completed the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge.  Haven’t started the challenge yet?  Come to the party & find out all about it! 

All ages welcome with an adult.

Read to a Dog

Bring your favorite book or pick any from our collection to share with a specialized therapy dog for 15 minutes.

Beginning Reader Book Club

This book club is for newly independent readers to practice reading out loud by working through a story together, followed by a related craft or activity. Extra copies of the book will be available for checkout at the Children’s Desk one month before each meeting.  Pick one up ahead of time so your new reader can enjoy it and become familiar with it!

Raising Monarch Butterflies

Join us for a presentation by Girl Scout, Catherine Callahan, who is raising Monarch Butterflies and awareness about them for her Gold Award.  Learn all about these beautiful creatures and then do a fun craft!

Beat the Crusher: An Engineering Challenge

Design and build a protective casing to protect your precious egg from the force of the 30 lb. crusher!  Let’s see whose egg survives and whose egg gets squashed!

Rainforest Reptiles

Get up close and personal with a selection of alligators, turtles & snakes from the rainforests around the world.  Herpetologists will share facts and dispel your misconceptions about the rainforest and the reptiles that live in them.
