Programs at the Medfield Public Library

All programs are FREE thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Medfield Library. Please respect the age limits and arrive on time. For programs that require advance sign-up, you may do so online (below), in person, or by phone. Feel free to contact us for more information.

Storytimes

Join us for one of our weekly Storytimes, which take place every Wednesday and Thursday, except for the dates listed below. 

No Storytimes Feb. 19 & 20

 

  • *Pattycake Place:  10:15 am – Recommended for ages 0-24 mos.
  • *Toddler Time:  10:45 am – Recommended for ages 18-36 mos.
  • *All Together Now:  11:15 am – Recommended for for ages 0-36 mos.

*These programs are music-based and full of songs, rhymes and movement activities. They’re designed especially for babies & toddlers to enjoy with their caregivers.

 

No registration required but we kindly ask that you choose one time that fits your schedule best, so there is space for everyone in the Program Room. 

 

  • **Preschool Pageturners:  11:45 am – Recommended for ages 3-5 yrs.

**This program for preschoolers is designed to encourage a love of books that help develop important early literacy skills.  Participants are encouraged to separate from their caregivers for the first part of the program but we ask for help with our craft at the end.

Music Makers

Enhance your little one’s love of music during this 30-minute bonding time, with songs, dance, and movement activities to excite your budding musician!

Ages 0-5 with an adult

Saturday Sing-A-Long with Matt Heaton

Matt Heaton believes music for kids can be entertaining for both children AND adults.  His songs are a mix of rockabilly, surf, American roots and Irish traditional music.  Whether you call it children’s music, family music, kindie or toddlerbilly, it’s sure to please listeners of all ages.  

All ages welcome with an adult

Parachute Play

Ring around the parachute with music, games and a craft!  Toddlers & preschoolers are invited to come play with their caregivers.

This program is offered thanks to the Walpole Coordinated Family & Community Engagement Program

Storyteller, Kurt Jackson

Join our favorite storyteller and long time MAP teacher for an extra special performance.  Kurt will pay tribute to silent film icon, Charlie Chaplin, and will tell a story with the use of body language and physical comedy.  Pajamas welcome!

Read to a Dog

Bring your favorite book or pick any from our collection to share with a specialized therapy dog for 15 minutes.

Beginning Reader Book Club

This book club is for newly independent readers to practice reading out loud by working through a story together, followed by a related craft or activity. Extra copies of the book will be available for checkout at the Children’s Desk one month before each meeting.  Pick one up ahead of time so your new reader can enjoy it and become familiar with it!

Lego Club

Challenge yourself to build with the library’s collection of Legos.  Then we’ll put them out on display for all to see!

Family Create, Play & Learn!

Drop in and play with a variety of different activities.  Whether it’s Legos, games, crafts, puzzles, or activity sheets… there’s sure to be something for everyone to enjoy and learn through play!
