Kids Summer Reading Challenge 2026

Crack the Case Medfield Public Library's 2026 Summer reading Challenge June 13 - August 15
The Challenge is Simple - Read anything you want....books, graphic novels, magazines. You can listen to auditobooks or ask someone to read to you! - Learning activities count too! There's a list of ideas on back of the tracker - Complete each case on the Reading Tracker to earn a prize - Pick up prizes in the Children's Room throughout the summer - It's ok if you can't come regularly, just make sure to come by Sept. 1st
Want more of a challenge? If you complete the initial challenge, you can join the Vault Challenge to stretch your reading goals even further.
Prizes for everyone: Earn up to 6 prizes this summer! Plus, complete the whole challenge to gain entry into the GRAND PRIZE DRAWING for a chance to win one of the grand prizes (baskets containing things like games, LEGO sets and more!)
GRAND PRIZE DRAWING - Return a completed reading tracker by 8/15 to enter our Grand Prize drawing. - Prizes will be on display all summer, each with its own ticket container. You will be able to select where to add your ticket(s). - Complete the Stretch Challenge as many times as you like by 8/15 to increase your chances. Not done by 8/15? You can still claim regular prizes until 9/1.
Rising 4th and 5th graders can decide to do EITHER the kids' Challenge or the Teen Challenge. Sorry, you can't do both. WHAT you'll do is the same (track reading, collect prizes, earn chances towards grand prizes). So what's the difference? - Teen Challenge visuals and prizes are geared towards older kids. - Fewer Teen participants (but also fewer Grand prizes)

2026 Medfield Public Schools Summer Reading

  • Memorial, Wheelock, & Dale Schools do NOT have specific books for students to read.
    • Memorial, Wheelock & Dale encourage students to participate in the Medfield Public Library’s Summer Reading program to keep reading all summer long! 
  • Blake Middle School and Medfield High School do have specific summer reading lists.

    • At Medfield High School, each department handles summer assignments differently. Students should receive information directly from their teachers if they have summer assignments.  Visit the MHS Summer Reading page for additional details.
