National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15th – October 15th) celebrates the richly varied contributions and histories brought to the United States by residents and citizens from Spanish-speaking countries and regions around the world. The month has been officially recognized by the government for almost 40 years, and the start date of September 15th coincides with the Independence Days of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua—with the Mexican and Chilean Independence Days falling within the same week.
